How To Discern God's Voice. (Pt.6)

But Joseph dreamed yet another dream and told it to his brothers [also]. He said, See here, I have dreamed again, and behold, [this time not only] eleven stars [but also] the sun and the moon bowed down and did reverence to me!

#6. God speak through dream.

Introduction:
Dream can be define as an imaginary events seen in the mind while sleeping. Dream is an ancient divine means of communication between God and man.
If there's a prophet among you i will speak to him through dream. Num.12:6.
Source of dream can be from God, man or satan.
There are two kind of dreams which are:
i. Direct dream.
ii. Proverbial dream.

i. Direct dream is the dream that need no interpretation because it's interpreted itself. Jesus in His earthly ministry usually communicate with His adherents openly and directly. Matt.1:20.

ii. Proverbial dream. This is a dream that need deep spiritual intervention for it interpretation to be clear. This is a form of dream that need the service of a prophet to understand. God usually speak to those outside and stubborn hearted people in this way so that He can bring them to Himself. Gen.41:1-8.

Body: let's consider 10 types of dreams.

i. Daydreams.
Daydreaming is classified as a level of consciousness between sleep and wakefulness.  Studies show that you have the tendency to daydream an average of 70-120 minutes a day. It occurs during waking hours when you let your imagination carry you away. As your mind begins to wander and your level of awareness decreases, you lose yourself in your imagined scenario and fantasy.

ii. False Awakening Dreams.
Have you ever thought you have waken up and gone about your daily morning routine: getting up, brushing your teeth, eating breakfast and going to work, only to wake up "again" and realize that what just happened is just a dream. That sensation is referred to as a false awakening.

iii. Lucid Dreams.
Lucid dreams occur when you realize you are dreaming. "Wait a second. This is only a dream!" Most dreamers wake themselves up once they realize that they are dreaming. Other dreamers have cultivated the skill to remain in the lucid state of dreaming. They become an active participant in their own dreams, making decisions in their dreams and influencing the dream's outcome without awakening. Get a more in depth look at lucid dreams.

iv. Nightmares.
A nightmare is a disturbing dream that causes you to wake up feeling anxious and frightened. Nightmares may be a response to real life trauma and situations. Nightmares may also occur because you have ignored or refused to accept a particular life situation.  Nightmares are an indication of a fear that needs to be acknowledged and confronted. It is a way for the subconscious to wake up and take notice. "Pay attention!"

V. Recurring Dreams.
Recurring dreams repeat themselves with little variation in story or theme.  These dreams may be positive, but most often they are nightmarish in content.  Dreams may recur because a conflict depicted in the dream remains unresolved or  ignored. Once you find a resolution to the problem, your recurring dreams will cease.

Vi. Healing Dreams.
Healing dreams serve as messages for the dreamer in regards to their health. The Ancient Greeks called these dreams "prodromic". Many dream experts believe that dreams can help in avoiding potential health problems and healing when you are ill or when you are grieving. Your bodies are able to communicate to your mind through dreams. The dreams can "tell" you that something is not quite right with your bodies even before any physical symptoms show up. Dreams of this nature may be telling the dreamer that he or she needs to go to the dentist or doctor. If you can understand the language of dreams, your dreams will serve as an invaluable early warning system. They can help inform, advise and heal.

Vii. Prophetic Dreams.
Prophetic dreams, also referred to as precognitive or psychic dreams, are dreams that seemingly foretell the future.  One rational theory to explain this phenomenon is that your dreaming mind is able to piece together bits of information and observation that you may normally overlook or that you do not seriously consider. In other words, your unconscious mind knows what is coming before you consciously piece together the same information.

Viii. Signal Dreams.
Signal dreams help you how to solve problems or make decisions in your waking life.

ix. Progressive Dreams.
Progressive dreams occur when you have a sequence of dreams that continue over a period of nights. The dream continues where you left off the previous night. Such dreams are problem-solving dreams and help to explore different options and various approaches to a problem, situation or relationship.

X. Mutual Dreams.

Mutual dreams are described as such when two people have the same dream. Mutual dreams may be planned, meaning that two people actively work toward achieving one dream scenario or goal. It is a way to improve communication and build trust. Mutual dreams can also be spontaneous. You find out that a friend, a significant other, faraway relative, or someone has had the same dream on the same night as you.

Conclusively: Don't allow sin to truncate the mean of communication between God and you. Guide your mind very well.
Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.
Proverbs 4:23.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
John 10:27 KJV .

Introduction:
Naturally in language acquisition a child doesn't go to school to learn L1 which is the native language or mother tongue.
Children learn the sounds and the rules of language through listening, repetition and imitation of those around them. With trial and error, they lengthen their thoughts and ideas based on the reaction/reinforcement from those around them in order to satisfy a want, need or expressing of emotion. In the same vein when you're born-again which mean that your spirit which is God's part in you has been regenerated your spirit can now connect with God's spirit. Until you're born-again and begin to follow Jesus Christ to learn His ways by listening to His instructions and imitating His examples you can't discern God's voice.
Body: There are primarily three Voices which are as follow: God's voice, Man's voice and satan's voice. You need to discern the one that's talking to you. Don't believe all spirits but test every spirit to know if they're from God. While satan spoke to the first Adam through the third party, he spoke to the last Adam which is Jesus Christ directly but Jesus discern and overcame satan via God's word.
According to 1Corinthians 12 vs 4 to 11 the nine gifts of the spirit was classified into three halves which are: Revelational Gifts, Power Gifts and Vocal Gifts.
Revelational Gifts: word of wisdom, word of knowledge and discerning of the spirit.
Power Gifts: Miracle, healing and Faith.
Vocal Gifts: speaking in tongue, interpretation of tongue and prophecy.
In the course of this teaching we will be considering 8 major ways by which God speaks to man. Briefly today we will be looking at Prophecy.

1. Prophecy. naba' to prophesy is to speak God's message to people, under the influence of the divine Spirit. It also mean to speak the future now. Though it's only the prophet who majorly prophesied in the old testament but through the gift of the Holy Spirit in the new testament believers who are not call into prophet office can prophesy under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. "To prophesy" was a task that the prophet could not avoid because God speak through prophet to people.

A. Prophet is called "Nabi" because he's the mouthpiece of God. Nabi a prophet is the one who speaks for another, or his mouth. Exo.4:16; 7:1.

B. Prophet is called "ro'eh" a seer of visions. All seers were prophets but all prophets were not seers. One who saw in a vision or otherwise what he predicted, was a seer; whereas, a prophet would sometimes speak as the Holy Spirit move him, without seeing anything. 1Sam.9:9.

C. Prophet is called "chozeh" which referred rather to the spiritual comprehension of what was seen. All these three words - nabi, roeh and chozeh - are used together in 1Chro.29:29.

Finally: When God speaks all other voices must remain silent. It's imperative to be able to discern God's voice. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesying because prophecy is for edification, exhortation and comfort.

"For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people" Isa.28:11.
God speaks through TONGUE.
Introduction:
Lashon, "tongue; language; speech." This word is thought to have the root meaning "to lick," but this is a conjecture. Phoenician, and Arabic. In the Hebrew Old Testament it appears 115 times, mainly in the poetic and, to a lesser extent, in the prophetical books. The first occurrence is in Gen 10:5: "By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations." The basic meaning of lashon is "tongue," which as an organ of the body refers to humans Lam.4:4 and animals Ex.11:7; Job 41:1. The extended meaning of the word as an organ of speech occurs more frequently. A person may be "heavy" or "slow" of tongue or have a stammering "tongue" Exo.4:10; or he may be fluent and clear: "The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly" Isa.32:4. And see the description of the "tongue" in Ps.45:1: "My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the King: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer." The word is often better translated as "speech," because of the negative and positive associations of lashon.
Body:
 In the wisdom literature the manner of one's "speech" is considered to be the external expression of the character of the speaker.
 The fool's "speech" is unreliable: Ps.5:9.
Deceitful: Ps.109:2; 120:2-3; Prov. 6:17.
Boastful: Ps.140:11.
Flattering: Prov.26:28.
Slanderous: Ps.15:3.
Subversive: Prov.10:31.
The "tongue" of the righteous man heals: Prov. 15:4.
While the "tongue" may be as sharp as sword: Ps 57:4.
It is a means of giving life to the righteous and death to the wicked: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof" Prov. 18:21; cf. 21:23; 25:15.
The biblical authors speak of divine inspiration as the Lord's enabling them to speak: "The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, and his word was in my tongue" 2 Sam 23:2; cf. Prov. 16:1.
 "Tongue" with the meaning "speech" has as a synonym peh, "mouth" Ps 66:17, and more rarely sapah, "lip" Job 27:4.
A further extension of meaning is "language." In Hebrew both sapah and lashon denote a foreign "language": "For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people" Isa 28:11. The foreigners to the "language" are well described in these words: "Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand" Isa 33:19.
Lashon also refers to objects that are shaped in the form of a tongue. Most important is the "tongue of fire," which even takes the character of "eating" or "devouring": "Therefore as the [tongues of fire] devoureth the stubble and the flame consumeth the chaff..." Isa 5:24. The association in Isaiah of God's appearance in judgment with smoke and fire gave rise to a fine literary description of the Lord's anger: "Behold, the name of the Lord cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire" Isa 30:27. Notice the words "lips" and "tongue" here with the meaning of "flames of fire," even though the language evokes the representation of a tongue (as an organ of the body) together with a tongue (of fire). Also a bar of gold Josh 7:21 and a bay of the sea Isa 11:15 shaped in the form of a tongue were called lashon.

Finally: God speaks through tongue and interpretation. Tongue is useless without interpretation. Tongue is a sign to unbeliever not to a believer. 1Cor.14:22. While prophecy edifies the church he or she who speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself or herself. When your phone battery is drained you have to plug it into power source to charge it. The same thing is applicable when you pray in tongue or in spirit; you are building, edifying or charging your spirit. Jude 1:20; 1Cor.14:14.
Satan can decode all other natural language but not spiritual language which is speaking in tongue, because he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks mystery. 1Cor.14:2. When you switchover to speaking in tongue you are confusing the devil and his cohorts. You can also sing in tongue. 1Cor.14:15.
Access to speaking in tongue is to wait on the Lord in fasting and prayer until you are baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongue.

It is my payer that God will pour out His Holy Spirit on everyone that is thirst for Him in Jesus in name.

And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire [a sound of gentle stillness and] a still, small voice.

#3. A Still Small Voice.

Introduction:
In communication barriers can impede flow of communication. Therefore, it's imperative to do away with barriers and noise in other to enjoy constant and uniterrupted flow of communication with God.

Body:
There are two types of noise:
A. Internal Noise. And
B. External Noise.

A. Internal noise: It's those distractions going on within your mind that didn't allow you to concentrate with God and focus on what matters. It's at the point of meditation that our spirit have interaction with God. "There's a spirit in man inspiration of the Almighty give them understanding. Job 32:8. God is a Spirit. And it's Spirit that bear witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. During meditation God's Spirit inspired our spirit. But many people used meditation in a negative way. How? When you're worry about things that you're yet to have and you're frightened you're disconecting your internal network from God's Spirit. By worry who can add a cubit to his life?
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God's peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].
Philippians 4:6-8 AMP.

B. External Noise: These are the physical distractions and wordly songs that try to get your attention. To get over this you must understand the appropriate time to tune into divine radio stations or television channels early in the morning and evening hour.

* Jesus Christ cultivates the habit of praying very early in the morning.
And in the morning, long before daylight, He got up and went out to a deserted place, and there He prayed.
Mark 1:35 AMP.

* Isaac usually meditate in the evening time in an open field.
And Isaac went out to meditate and bow down [in prayer] in the open country in the evening.... Genesis 24:63 AMP.
There's time for everything in life.
It's our spirit that can pick signal from God therefore we must live above sin in other to enjoy flow of communication with God.
Finally: we can call this "small still voice" intuition. Intuition is an inner tuition. When we were in tertiary institution we pay for tuition in other to be taught and learn in the school environment but God through Holy Spirit doesn't need tuition to tutor us for our own benefits.
But you have been anointed by [you hold a sacred appointment from, you have been given an unction from] the Holy One, and you all know [the Truth] or you know all things . But as for you, the anointing (the sacred appointment, the unction) which you received from Him abides [permanently] in you; [so] then you have no need that anyone should instruct you. But just as His anointing teaches you concerning everything and is true and is no falsehood, so you must abide in (live in, never depart from) Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him], just as [His anointing] has taught you [to do].
1 John 2:20, 27 AMP.
God's still speaking through "small still voice" but it's your responsibility to clear away barriers that can hinder the flow of your communication with Him.

And the Lord said to Moses, Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you and believe you and remain steadfast forever. Then Moses told the words of the people to the Lord. As the trumpet blast grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered him with a voice. [Deut. 4:12.] Exodus 19:9, 19 AMP.

#4. Audible Voice.

Introduction: God is not a respecter of person. Though God created all of us equally from His own image but the level of our devotion and commitment to Him and His service usually determined the level He placed us. "Activities is not spirituality." Your personal devotion and relationship with God will defined the quality of Communion you will enjoy with Him. Aaron, Miriam and Moses were born by the same parents and they're all in the office of prophets but their level of devotion defined how God communicated with them individually. While God spoke with Aron and Miriam indirectly He spoke with Moses directly and openly.
And He said, Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make Myself known to him in a vision and speak to him in a dream. But not so with My servant Moses; he is entrusted and faithful in all My house. [Heb. 3:2, 5, 6.] With him I speak mouth to mouth [directly], clearly and not in dark speeches; and he beholds the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses?
Numbers 12:6-8 AMP.

Body: God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He's spoken with our Fathers audibly in the time past. He's still speaking audibly and face to face now. Are you sanctified?
There are many people that God spoke with audibly in the Old Testament but let's see few people that God spoke with in the New Testament:
* Jesus Christ. Because He love righteousness and hate Iniquity God anointed Him with the oil of gladness above His fellows.
And when Jesus was baptized, He went up at once out of the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he [John] saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him. And behold, a voice from heaven said, This is My Son, My Beloved, in Whom I delight! [Ps. 2:7; Isa. 42:1.]
Matthew 3:16-17 AMP.
Jesus Christ fervent prayer rend heaven opened.
While he was still speaking, behold, a shining cloud [composed of light] overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, This is My Son, My Beloved, with Whom I am [and have always been] delighted. Listen to Him! [Ps. 2:7; Isa. 42:1.]
Matthew 17:5 AMP.
If we follow His footsteps we will get the same result with Him. What you sow you will surely reap.

* Apostle Paul. His encountered with Jesus Christ led to his transformation.
Now as he traveled on, he came near to Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him, And he fell to the ground. Then he heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me [harassing, troubling, and molesting Me]? The men who were accompanying him were unable to speak [for terror], hearing the voice but seeing no one.
Acts 9:3-4, 7 AMP.

Conclusively: if you've a right standing with God, shun Iniquity, fear Him, sanctity yourself for Him, fast and pray fervently you will enjoy sweet fellowship with Him and also hear His voice loud and clear.

I decree and declare that God will manifest Himself to you and it Will culminate into total transformation of your life in Jesus name.

#5. God Speak Through Angel.

Introduction:
mal'ak - Angel, "messenger; angel. The word mal'ak denotes someone sent over a great distance by an individual Gen 32:3 or by a community Num 21:21, in order to communicate a message. Angels can be provoke to action by God's word and prayer. When you pray God is likely to send Angel to deliver the answer to your prayer but when you praise God Himself jump into the matter.

Body:
There are three types of Angels which are as follow:
A. messenger angels. Angel Gabriel is the head of these class of Angels.
And Zachariah said to the angel, By what shall I know and be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years. And the angel replied to him, I am Gabriel. I stand in the [very] presence of God, and I have been sent to talk to you and to bring you this good news. [Dan. 8:16; 9:21.]
Luke 1:18-19 AMP. These Angels are in charge of goodnew. They usually delivered answers to prayers.
But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people.
Luke 2:10 AMP.

B. Warring Angels. Angel Michael is the captain of these set of angels. They're in charge of warfare.
But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me for twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief [of the celestial] princes, came to help me, for I remained there with the kings of Persia.
Daniel 10:13 AMP.
These class of Angels can deal with satan and his cohort's. They're fierce in battle.
Then war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels went forth to battle with the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought. But they were defeated, and there was no room found for them in heaven any longer.
Revelation 12:7-8 AMP.
At the hour of danger you can command these angels to takeover your battle in prayer.

C. Ministering Angeles. satan was the head of these division of angels before he's dethroned. They're in charge of worship and music in heaven. They also visit earth during worship.
How have you fallen from heaven, O light-bringer and daystar, son of the morning! How you have been cut down to the ground, you who weakened and laid low the nations [O blasphemous, satanic king of Babylon!]
Isaiah 14:12 AMP.
satan was created with worship capacity until he lost it all with his unrighteous lifestyle.

Conclusively:
Angels were created to minister to us a believers in Christ Jesus.
Then the devil departed from Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.
Matthew 4:11 AMP.
Angels are sent to minister to your needs not other way round.
Referring to the angels He says, [God] Who makes His angels winds and His ministering servants flames of fire; [Ps. 104:4.] Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation?
Hebrews 1:7, 14 AMP.

Your ministering Angel with not depart unti your heart desire is fully delivered.
